5 reasons you’ll fall in love with Wotton House wedding venue

Italian style meets Surrey country charm

Wotton House is a stunning wedding venue located in Dorking Surrey, with it’s sensational space indoors and outdoor for licensed civil ceremonies, which makes it the perfect place for making magical memories.

The grand manor house is set within the impressive Grade Il listed Italian Gardens, the first Italian gardens to be introduced to the UK. The outdoor grounds also feature streams ponds, secret walled gardens, and the magnificent Roman style temple which makes the perfect backdrop for wedding photographs.

The Old Library, has the ultimate wow factor, with its incredible vaulted ceilings, majestic stone pillar, which are often decorated with beautiful flowers or pretty fairy lights. The room also features 17th century Gothic windows, two marble fireplaces, making  it the most incredible place to have a wedding get married.

After the wedding ceremony the 1877 bar is a wonderful location for the champagne reception, with access onto the outdoor terrace which overlooks 13 acres of stunning garden.

The Evelyn Suite is the perfect space for the wedding breakfast and evening reception, with four double doors leading out onto the perfectly manicured gardens, this bright and spacious room provides a modern and elegant feel which is perfect for partying the night away with family and friends

It’s no wonder it was voted the best country wedding venue in the UK.

Today I’m bringing you two of my favourite weddings at Wotton House, Surrey. Benny and Craig’s elegant autumn wedding. And Matthew and Hlilegonde’s intimate wedding at Christmas.

Here’s 5 reasons you’ll fall in love with Wotton House, with these two uniquely beautiful days to get you inspired.

1. Wotton House is the perfect place to start your wedding day!

Your experience begins in the oh-so-photogenic dressing rooms of Wotton House. And honestly, I can’t imagine a more perfect place to start your day.

Serene, stylish, spacious, and comfortable. The attention to detail, the laid-back luxury, the flawless natural light…they’ll even bring you snacks and champagne!

And there’s a dressing room for both of you. So your wedding photographer (me!) can move between the rooms. Capturing both of you getting ready; telling both sides of the story.

It’s a special place. One that invites you to unwind, take it all in, and make memories.

Benny and her girls, laughing on the sofa in their matching PJs. Hillegonde, drinking tea with her friends. Those moments with her mum, her first look with her dad.

And the final cherry on top? When it’s time to get married, you can stroll out the door and walk to your ceremony…

2. The Old Library ceremony space

Your ceremony options at Wotton House are breathtaking, indoors and out.

You can get married in the Italian gardens- backdropped by *those* stone pillars, and surrounded by ancient trees.

But for me, the gem in the Wotton crown is the indoor ceremony space, The Old Library.

Dramatic vaulted ceilings, 17th century stone pillars, gothic windows, and original marble fireplaces…it’s one of those “oh wow!” spaces that’ll have your guests walking, mouth-open, to their seats.

Both my couples kept their ceremony styling understated, and elegant.

M&H with gentle flashes of colour; blush roses, and purple-white peonies. B&C, with pure-white hydrangeas, and a rose-scattered aisle. Subtly echoing their palette, and allowing the inherent beauty of the space speak for itself.

3. Champagne terrace, garden views, and the 1877 Bar

The Wotton House terrace is an utterly idyllic place for your drinks reception.

Benny and Craig’s guests gathered outside on the sunny terrace. Champagne flowed, the birds chirped happily from the trees. And as we looked out across those stunning Italian gardens, B&C mingled with their guests in the warm autumn sun.

And if you’re having a winter wedding, like Matthew and Hillegonde? The 1877 Bar offers a just-as-beautiful (and much warmer!) indoor option.

With comfy chairs, vintage décor, and signature cocktails, you can sprawl-out, drink, and mingle inside away from the cold.

And this is one of the best things about having your wedding in Wotton House…

There’s no weak link, no ‘better option’. Any time of year, any weather, your experience here will be completely unforgettable.

4. The Wotton House gardens

The gardens at Wotton House are a wedding photographer’s paradise! 13 acres of streams, ponds, and enchanting woodland to explore; secret pathways, and crumbling ancient stone.

So while your guests are happily chatting away, we’ll go for a little wander through the grounds. And it’s an experience in itself. Strolling through those famous gardens, kissing, laughing, holding newly-ringed hands.

And as you emerge from the trees, you’ll find yourselves at the iconic Roman temple. Perfect for group shots, couple shots, and epic sparkler send-offs. Honey-hued in the sun; illuminated in the crisp night air.

I’ve photographed 8 weddings at Wotton House to-date. And whenever I visit, I’m just *in awe* of the place!

5. A little reception inspiration for your Wotton House wedding

Matthew and Hilegonde had an intimate reception in The Old Library.

Gathered around a banqueting table- stretched beneath the arches, and overflowing with florals. Tasty food, and flutes of champagne; video messages, and heartfelt speeches in that beautiful room.

If you’re having a larger wedding like Benny and Craig’s, you can have your reception in The Evelyn Suite. Modern, and understated, filled with natural light. It’s the perfect blank canvas for your styling/

And B&C had styled it to perfection. Elegant stationery, pure-white florals, and a white buttercream cake. High energy, laugh-out-loud speeches, and free-flowing wine. The DJ brought the tunes, the guests brought the love. And they hugged and danced the night away on that checkerboard floor.

And for many couples, this is such an important quality in a wedding venue…

The freedom you have to make it your own.

Choose the spaces that feel right for you, plan the wedding you’ve always wanted. And in every aspect of the day, craft an experience that’s truly yours.
