My Journey into Wedding Photography
Hello, I’m Charlotte — the photographer and heart behind Charlotte Hellinger Photography. I’m a Surrey wedding and portrait photographer specialising in natural, romantic and timeless imagery. Over the past decade, I’ve been invited into the most meaningful moments of people’s lives, transforming real emotions into elegant photographs that only grow more precious with time.
My journey into wedding photography deepened after getting married and becoming a mother. Experiencing those life-changing moments myself reminded me how fleeting they are — and how important it is to preserve them beautifully. That understanding shapes everything I do. I don’t just take photographs; I create heartfelt, intentional images that become part of your family story for generations.
Why I Fell in Love with Wedding Photography
There is something extraordinary about a wedding day — the anticipation, the emotion, the joy, the people you love most gathered in one place. Every celebration is a blend of beauty and meaning, and being trusted to document that is an honour I never take for granted.
I approach every wedding quietly and thoughtfully, looking for both the big moments and the subtle ones: the way you squeeze each other’s hands during the vows, your parents’ reactions, the laughter that erupts on the dancefloor. These are the memories you’ll want to relive — and the ones I’m there to capture with care.
My Style & Approach
My photography style is natural, luxurious, romantic and timeless.
I work with a calm, warm presence, allowing you to feel relaxed while I gently guide you when needed. My approach is unobtrusive — I blend into the background for most of the day, observing rather than directing, so your photographs feel effortless and authentic.
With a creative eye and an instinct for storytelling, I focus on elegant composition, flattering light, and genuine emotion. The result is a collection of images that feel both beautifully editorial and deeply personal.
I’m based in the lovely village of Cobham. I photograph weddings across Surrey, London and the surrounding Home Counties.

When I’m not behind the camera, I’m usually with my family — my two children and our dog, Bailey — making memories of our own. We love exploring Surrey’s most picturesque places: wandering the scenic paths of Painshill Park, spending slow afternoons at Claremont Gardens, and taking nature-filled walks at RHS Wisley. Surrey has been my home for over 15 years, and its landscapes, history, and elegance constantly inspire me.
I’m also a huge foodie who loves cooking, but equally loves discovering beautiful restaurants and trying new flavours. Add in a love of theatre, travel, and planning my next adventure (Japan is top of the list!), and you’ll find that I’m someone who appreciates experiences, connection, and creativity — the same things that shape my work.
At my core, I’m warm, kind, calm and a little bit of a perfectionist. I’m known for being clear and supportive in my communication, and for making even the most camera-shy people feel at ease. Whether I’m photographing a wedding or a family session in the countryside, my aim is always the same: to create honest, elegant, meaningful images that reflect who you truly are.
